$440K Grant for Traffic Enforcement and Training Awarded to AZDPS by Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) received $440,000 in grant funding from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for Fiscal Year 2025. The funding will support statewide efforts to reduce serious and fatal crashes through enhanced enforcement and targeted traffic safety initiatives.

The AZDPS is committed to enhancing roadway safety for all through consistent and proactive enforcement.

In addition to active enforcement efforts, GOHS funding will supplement Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) training to educate law enforcement officers statewide in the detection and investigation of impaired drivers.

GOHS allocated grant funding in support of the following initiatives:

  • $35,000 for occupant protection enforcement
  • $120,000 for DUI enforcement
  • $40,000 for street racing enforcement
  • $150,000 for Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP)
  • $35,000 for distracted driving enforcement
  • $20,000 for DRE training
  • $40,000 for collision investigation
