Distracted, Impaired and Unrestrained Drivers Will Be Getting Special Attention

Phoenix — The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) has received $35,000 in federal funds, specifically to help with expenses for troopers taking part in enhanced distracted driving operations statewide.

Northern Arizona — During the heavily traveled Thanksgiving holiday, troopers will be participating in the nationwide I-40 challenge, “Drive to Zero Fatalities”.

Homicide Suspect Arrested by State Trooper in Northern Arizona

Yavapai County, Ariz — A traffic stop by an AZDPS trooper led to the rescue of two young children, a seizure of black tar heroin, and the arrest of their parents. A subsequent investigation by state detectives revealed a connection between the driver and a 2014 homicide in Aurora, Colorado.

Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Helps AZDPS Reduce Highway Fatalities

Phoenix — The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) has received $92,536.00 in federal funds, specifically to help with overtime expenses for troopers taking part in enhanced speed enforcement details statewide.

2,600 lbs. of Marijuana Seized by AZDPS in Southern Arizona

Nogales, Ariz. - On October 24, 2017, at about 10:40 p.m., a state trooper made a traffic stop on a van traveling northbound along I-19, north of Nogales, for unsafe lane usage.

I-10 Crash Leaves Girl Dead; Driver Charged with Manslaughter

Tonopah, Ariz. — An early morning crash along eastbound Interstate 10 left one child dead and several others injured. The driver was arrested and booked into jail for manslaughter and other related charges.

State Crime Lab Obtains New Equipment to Help Analyze DUI Cases

Phoenix — A grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, for more than $200,000, will be used to purchase a Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer for the state crime lab in Tucson, Arizona.

While in Las Vegas for an Honor Guard Detail, an Arizona Department of Public Safety sergeant, without hesitation, aided Nevada authorities and victims during the deadly shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

14-Year-Old Suspect Sought in Apache County Homicide in Custody

Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona — On the morning of October 3, 2017, a burglary was reported at a residence in Concho, Arizona. The Apache County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence in order to investigate. An occupant of the residence was discovered deceased, the victim of a homicide.
