Maj. Diana Mondragon
Executive Officer
Major Mondragon began her law enforcement career in 2001 with the Arizona Department of Corrections after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University. In 2003, she continued her service to the State of Arizona by joining DPS as a sworn peace officer.
Over more than 22 years with DPS, Major Mondragon has held a wide range of operational and leadership assignments. Her experience includes service as a State Trooper in Highway Patrol and as a Detective in Organized Crime and Narcotics. In 2014, she was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to Highway Patrol in Nogales, Arizona, before transferring to the Border Strike Force Highway Interdiction Team (HIT) in Tucson. During this period, she earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
In 2019, Major Mondragon was promoted to Captain and assigned to the Intelligence District, housed at the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center (ACTIC) in Phoenix. On July 2, 2022, she was appointed Deputy Director of ACTIC. She is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. On January 4, 2025, she was assigned to the Office of the Director within the Executive Officer Bureau. She was nominated for and successfully completed the State of Arizona Leaders Connect program in August 2025. On December 13, 2025, she was promoted to Major and assigned as the Executive Officer in the Office of the Director.
Major Mondragon has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to mentorship and community engagement. From 2007 to 2017, she served as a counselor with the American Legion Law Enforcement Career Academy (ALLECA), a program designed to introduce teenagers to careers in law enforcement and the military while emphasizing leadership, service, and civic responsibility. In 2018, she was selected as the ALLECA Class Commander and has overseen the program since. The week-long academy has been jointly hosted by DPS and the American Legion since 1981.
Major Mondragon and her husband of 25 years, Don, have three teenagers who are now driving.
