Honor Guard: Honoring Service with Pride and Precision
The Arizona Department of Public Safety Honor Guard serves as the ceremonial and symbolic representation of the Department, embodying its core values of honor, integrity, and service during some of the most meaningful moments in both law enforcement and the community. The Honor Guard is called upon to represent Arizona and the Department at funerals, promotional ceremonies, retirements, graduations, and other high-profile or commemorative events.
Beyond simply attending events, the Honor Guard plays a critical role in preserving tradition and demonstrating respect. Their responsibilities include rendering ceremonial tributes such as serving as pallbearers for fallen or retired members, acting as rifle bearers during honors ceremonies, and presenting the National, State, and DPS colors with precision and professionalism. These duties require extensive training, discipline, and attention to detail to ensure every movement reflects the dignity of the occasion.
The Honor Guard’s presence provides comfort to families, honors the service and sacrifice of public safety personnel, and reinforces the Department’s commitment to its members and the citizens of Arizona. Whether standing in solemn tribute at a funeral or proudly presenting colors at a graduation, the unit represents the highest standards of professionalism and respect within the Department.
