In order to perform all of the different analyses offered by the Scientific Analysis Bureau, security of evidence is extremely important. Chain of custody must be initiated upon receipt of evidence and maintained until the evidence is returned or disposed. The Scientific Analysis Bureau provides secure intake and output of evidence at all of its regional laboratories for evidence requiring analysis and provides evidence to crime lab personnel for analysis. Additionally, at the Central, Southern, and Northern laboratories, the Property and Evidence sections store evidence for the Department of Public Safety, handle evidence disposal in adjudicated cases, and handle personal property transactions.
Personal property transactions at the Central lab in Phoenix take place by appointment (602 223-2391) at 2325 N. 22nd Ave.
Personal property transactions at the Northern lab in Flagstaff take place by appointment (928 773-3684) at 1140 W. Kaibab Lane.
