Ranger 1 Crew Rescues Injured Hiker From Humphreys Peak, Setting Record For Highest Altitude Rescue in AZDPS History

On Saturday, August 29, 2020, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Ranger 1 helicopter was requested to assist the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) with a search and rescue mission for an injured hiker.

Mesa Police Officer Critically Injured During Collision While Warning Motorists of Hazardous Debris on US-60 in Mesa

The Mesa Police Department has identified their officer as 13-year veteran Sean Stoddard. Officer Stoddard remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2020, the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s (AZDPS) Maricopa County Criminal Targeting Unit (CTU) served a search warrant at a Mesa residence, resulting in seven arrests and shutting down an illegal drug sales operation.

Following an internal investigation of an employee’s work, and out of an abundance of caution, the Arizona Department of Public Safety has re-inspected 1,294 school buses for mechanical or maintenance issues.
