AZDPS Prepares for Memorial Day Traffic Enforcement Throughout the State

Phoenix — Beginning May 25, troopers statewide will be targeting impaired drivers, distracted drivers, fatigued drivers, unrestrained occupants and speeders through various focused enforcement operations. Troopers and roadside motorist assistants will also be patrolling for stranded motorists.

Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Allocates Money to AZDPS for Seat Belt Enforcement

Phoenix — The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has awarded the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) a $10,000.00 grant to pay for overtime and other expenses related to the two week Buckle Up Arizona Enforcement Campaign from May 21, 2018 through June 3, 2018.

Bird Strikes Cripple AZDPS Helicopter After Search and Rescue Mission

Northern Arizona — On April 29, 2018, at 12:51 a.m., an Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) helicopter, Ranger 56, was flying back to the Western Air Rescue base in Kingman after an unsuccessful search for a four-year-old girl north of Williams.

State Detectives Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Quartzsite

Update May 4, 2018: The injured Quartzsite police officer has now been identified at 34-year-old Keynan Weltha. Officer Weltha has been with QPD for three years. After undergoing some medical procedures, Officer Weltha is now  recovering and is in great spirits.
