CDL TESTING
Many of you have contacted this office stating that you are having problems
with scheduling your drivers for testing at MVD stations.
Only certain stations are available for CDL testing and appointments must
always be made. Both MVD and DPS are aware that this is a very difficult
situation and are trying to think of possibilities to make the process
somewhat easier. Because of very limited resources at the MVD stations, it
would be helpful if appointments could be scheduled in advance. And,
remember, If drivers are unable to keep those appointments, when
rescheduled, they are placed behind others who are already waiting. Once
much of the DPS driver certification process nears completion (background
check, drug screen, new driver training, behind-the-wheel training, first
aid and CPR), I would again suggest that an appointment be made in advance,
if possible, for the driver to obtain his/her CDL. That may help some.
Additionally, Mr. Bernie Fortunoff, MVD, has offered to assist you with any
problems you may be experiencing. Please contact him at
bfortunoff@azdot.gov. He is very willing to work with you to resolve any
issues.
Hopefully, with everyone working together, the system will progress a
little more smoothly.
