Mission
To ensure the safe and expeditious use of the highway transportation system for the public and to provide assistance to local and county law enforcement agencies.
The division additionally provides services and enforcement in commercial motor vehicle, tow truck, school bus enforcement and safety programs and is responsible for the air rescue and aviation services for the Department.
The Highway Patrol Division is comprised of the North, Central, and Southern Patrol Bureaus, the Commercial Vehicle Services Bureau and the Aviation Section.
Overview
Oversees the functions of the Highway Patrol and related division bureaus.
Provides specialized training in the areas of mitigating hazardous materials incidents.
Trains internal and external elements in hazardous materials response in conjunction with the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program state enforcement plan.
Conducts Hazardous material training for the Department and other agency personnel.
Oversees the functions of the Duty Office.
Conducts self-inspection programs for the division.
Oversees the issuance of school bus driver certifications and inspections of school buses.
Oversees the state fixed and rotor wing aviation program responsible for emergency medical evacuation, search and rescue, and law enforcement operations statewide.
