SOUTHERN COMMUNICATIONS CENTER (TUCSON)

Overview
The Southern Communications Center has twenty-eight dispatcher/9-1-1 call taker employees, three communication supervisors, and one center manager. There are five radio consoles and three call taker work positions.

Location
The Southern Communications Center is located at 6401 South Tucson Blvd in southeast Tucson near the airport. In addition to communications the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Tucson headquarters building also houses highway patrol, criminal investigations, fleet services and a crime lab. There is an onsite gym for employee use.
Tucson is situated 118 miles southeast of Phoenix and 60 miles north of the Mexico border. Tucson is the second-largest city in Arizona with a metro population approaching one million. Area points of interest include the University of Arizona, Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum, Biosphere 2, and Kit Peak Observatory. Tucson is a beautiful city with a unique blend of Indian, Spanish, Mexican and Anglo heritages. The city is in the heart of Pima County and is known for its mild winters, and many outdoors activities.
