Prescott District Office
The State of Arizona has developed a regional transportation service center on Commerce Drive in the Pioneer Park area. In addition to DPS, there are facilities for ADOT and MVD in a campus-like setting. HDR Architecture, Inc. was retained by the Department to design the Prescott District Office. The low bidder for the one million dollar building was B’s Contractors.
Nogales Port of Entry
The Department, along with the MVD Division of ADOT, occupies a truck inspection station adjacent to the U.S. Customs facilities. The building has two truck bays with inspection pits so the DPS Commercial Vehicle inspection officers can view the underside of the trucks during vehicle inspections. The architectural firm of Design One, Inc. was retained by ADOT to design the new facility.
Tucson Facilities
The architectural firm of DLR Group has master planned the DPS property at Tucson Boulevard and Valencia Road for two additional buildings. A new administrative office building and crime laboratory will be built, in phases, and the existing building will be renovated. The first phase is a new 48,000 square foot Southern Regional Crime Laboratory that is currently under construction. The $14.5 million project is scheduled to be completed in mid 2009.
