Gang & Immigration Enforcement
The Arizona Corridor is one of the busiest and most violent smuggling corridors in the country. The criminal organizations involved in the smuggling of aliens will violate any law and have total disregard for human life. The violent, collateral crimes related to the smuggling infrastructure include murder, kidnapping, extortion, assault, sexual assault, home invasions, and vehicle collisions while attempting to evade the police.
Addressing the crime and violence related to illegal immigration within the State of Arizona is no longer merely a federal responsibility. Legislation enacted by the state provides an expectation of enforcement action. In response to the impacts suffered by the state, both in terms of quality of life and economics, the voice of the public demands action. IIMPACT Arizona! provides the solution.
IIMPACT Arizona! is a multi-agency project that is managed by the Gang and Immigration Intelligence Team Enforcement Mission (GIITEM) and designed to address rising crime associated with illegal immigration. IIMPACT is an acronym that stands for Illegal Immigration Prevention and Apprehension Co-op Teams. As the name implies, local, state, and federal police agencies combine forces to impact international human smuggling organizations operating in Arizona.
The mission of IIMPACT Arizona! is to deter, disrupt, and dismantle violent criminal organizations profiting from illegal immigration. The project provides investigative resources and removal assistance to local jurisdictions plagued by illegal immigrant drop houses. The IIMPACT Arizona! investigation squads are comprised of personnel from DPS, Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Phoenix Police Department. These multi-agency squads will assist with the investigation of property, financial, and violent crimes associated with illegal immigration and human smuggling in the greater Phoenix and Maricopa County areas.
