DPS Air Rescue to Participate in Swift Water Rescue Event On Saturday July 27
Swift Water Rescue Training to Test Search and Rescue Teams From Across the State
Friday, July 26, 2013 -
In the past few weeks, DPS Air Rescue has been part of several swift water rescues and credits the training and experience of the pilots and officer/paramedics for the success of these rescues. Swift water rescues offer a unique challenge due to the dynamic environment of flash floods and fast moving currents. This training is designed to help teams by offering recent experiences of agencies and the lessons they learned from those rescues.
Secondary to the training, the event is also a competition where the winner will retain the Swift Water Rescue Rodeo trophy that stays with the winning team for the year. Last year’s winner was the Cochise County Search and Rescue Team.
The public and media are invited to the event that will be from 8:30 am to 3:30 p.m. There will be great opportunities to capture some compelling video and photos of the mock rescues.
