Today, May 1, 2013, the Department of Public Safety’s Gang and Immigration Intelligence Team Enforcement Mission (GIITEM), along with the FBI Safe Streets Violent Gang Task Force, served 17 search and arrest warrants in both Coconino County and Maricopa County. A total of 26 people were arrested during the operation with additional arrests to be made in the near future.
Today’s arrests and search warrants served as the culmination of a seven-month investigation into illegal drugs sales originating from criminal street gangs in the Phoenix area. The drugs seized during the investigation were methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, wax (marijuana paste), ecstasy and prescription medications.
This operation was a success due in part to the cooperation of the FBI, Flagstaff Police Department, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, Williams Police Department, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, ATF, ICE and the U.S. Marshals Service. This collaborative effort was focused on removing these dangerous individuals from our neighborhoods.
