Arizona Department of Public Safety Holds Fundraiser to Benefit Special Olympics Arizona

On Thursday, April 11, 2013, the Arizona Department of Public Safety Barbeque for Champions 2013 will be held at DPS Headquarters 2012 W. Encanto Blvd. in Phoenix. This is the 14th year DPS has held the Special Olympics Barbeque. The event will be held in the north parking lot from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Last year DPS employees raised over $19,000 for Special Olympics Arizona. A number of DPS specialty units will be displayed including equipment and vehicles from the DPS bomb squad, vehicles from the S.W.A.T team, the K-9 unit, the DPS motorcycle unit, the Air Rescue Helicopter and Haz-Mat Team. In addition a number of DPS vintage patrol vehicles will be on display.

Throughout the year, DPS employees both sworn and civilian raise money for a variety of charitable functions. The annual Special Olympics Barbeque is the largest fundraising event for the agency statewide.
