PRESS RELEASES

ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS WILL BE HONORED BY CHILDREN IN FATHER’S DAY TRIBUTE

MEDIA ADVISORY

Thursday, June 14, 2012 -

On Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 2:30 p.m., the children of DPS Highway Patrol Officer Robert Nowlan are set to surprise their daddy at DPS headquarters in Phoenix. Nowlan is a veteran DPS Officer who patrols freeways in the Phoenix area.

The young children will be reading a touching poem aloud to their father and some of his fellow officers. The poem, which is called “Cops are Daddies, too”, was written by the children’s mother, Barbara Nowlan.

While the poem is a tribute to the children’s loving father and his brave work as a police officer, it was written to apply to any law enforcement officer who is a father. The children recently turned the poem into a book with their own illustrations. Copies of the book have been printed, and will likely be available for purchase at the reading. The children will donate a portion of any earnings from book sales to the 100 Club of Arizona.

Barbara Nowlan, the wife of DPS Officer Robert Nowlan, and Sharon Knutson-Felix of the 100 Club will be available for interviews following the event.

When: Saturday, June 16, 2012

Time: 2:30 PM (media should arrive at 2:00 PM to set up)

Where: 2222 W. Encanto Blvd Phoenix (IIMPACT Training Room. Enter through the side door from the parking lot).
