ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY CONTINUES TO INVESTIGATE COLLISION THAT KILLED TEEN GIRL ON I-17

On May 28, 2012, at 11:05 p.m. Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers responded to a three-vehicle fatal collision on southbound Interstate 17 at milepost 200. A green Nissan Van was traveling wrong way when it struck a white Toyota, that was traveling southbound, head on killing both drivers. After the initial collision, the white Toyota was struck by another unknown vehicle. The passenger inside the white Toyota was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.

DPS continues to investigate this collision and has not ruled out alcohol as a factor of the collision. Please note that these investigations can take a significant amount of time to reach resolution because of many different factors and the extensive work by DPS Detectives.

Rhianna Valle, 17, Phoenix (passenger in vehicle #2)
