ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AVIATION BUREAU CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF AIR RESCUE AT ANNUAL “SAFETY STAND DOWN” MEETINGS.

On May 2-3, 2012, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Air Rescue Unit will be conducting annual safety and training classes. The major focus of this years training will be live swift water rescues conducted on the Colorado River between Bullhead City, Ariz., and Laughlin, Nev. This will also mark the 40th anniversary of DPS Air Rescue and the units continued mission of “Courteous Vigilance from Above.”
The training will feature a technical rescue event with helicopters on the river and should provide for unique footage and or photos. Additionally the training will focus on Swift Water Crossing Awareness which is an important topic with monsoon season approaching.
