On Saint Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17, 2011, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) hosted its fifth multi-agency DUI Warrant Roundup, with participation and assistance from the Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Surprise Police Departments, along with the Maricopa County Adult Probation Department. The command post was set up at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Teams of officers deployed across the metro Phoenix area to serve arrest warrants on those who have absconded on their DUI charges and judicial process. Officers made the arrests both at homes and work places.

The results of yesterday’s coordinated effort are as follows:

Department of Public Safety – 33 arrests

Surprise Police Department – 8 arrests

Phoenix Police Department – 3 arrests

Maricopa County Adult Probation – 3 arrests

The Constables of Maricopa County – 1 arrest

More than 31 officers participated in the DUI warrant round-up. The DPS DUI Warrant Squad, formed nearly one-year ago, has affected over 900 arrests thus far. That number includes those who have self-surrendered, bonded-out, and those arrested and brought directly to the court by our officers.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is a state-level law enforcement agency whose mission is to protect human life and property by enforcing state laws, deterring criminal activity and providing vital support to the State of Arizona and its citizens.
