IIMPACT Investigators determined suspect's true identity

On March 10, 2011, at approximately 3:06p.m., 20 year-old Jonathan Carillo-Rubio was driving a stolen pick-up truck and was westbound on Interstate 10 at the stack when he collided with a school bus with a total of 28 elementary-school-age children. After the collision, Carillo-Rubio tried to drive away but the vehicle became disabled at the
Carillo-Rubio claimed to be a juvenile and gave a false date of birth. IIMPACT detectives were called in and discovered Carillo-Rubio was an illegal alien and had illegally entered this country a number of times most often working as an alien smuggler or foot guide. Tucson Border Patrol officials had been looking for Carillo-Rubio. Through a cooperative law enforcement effort, IIMPACT was able to able to positively identify the suspect.
Carillo-Rubio is facing charges of felony hit and run, three counts of aggravated assault and 27 counts of endangerment.
Two children onboard the school bus were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
