DPS statement on the arrest of Salvador Reza and Anayanse Garza at the State Capitol

On Thursday, February 24, 2011, at approximately 3:00 PM, DPS officers contacted Mr. Salvador Reza inside the Senate building. At the request of Senate personnel, officers informed Mr. Reza that he was not welcome in the building and requested that he leave the Senate premises. After being told to leave several times, Mr. Reza refused to leave and was then arrested for trespassing.
While taking Mr. Reza into custody, Ms. Anayanse Garza began to interfere with the arrest and assaulted one of the police officers. Ms. Garza was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer.
Mr. Reza and Ms. Garza were both transported and booked into the MCSO 4th avenue jail.
