Arizona Department of Public Safety statement regarding the release of Daniel Perez

DPS completed and delivered paperwork needed to book Daniel Perez, in Pinal County, on two counts of aggravated assault-dangerous, regarding this month’s DPS officer-involved shooting incident in Casa Grande.

DPS does not run the jail system so it would be inappropriate to speculate on what may have happened to that paperwork.

Daniel Perez is a danger to any law enforcement officer he comes in contact with. We are engaged in a major effort to apprehend Perez and return him to custody as quickly as possible.

It should be noted that once DPS was informed that Perez had been released, we immediately notified local enforcement in the Casa Grande area before notifying law enforcement statewide.

DPS feels confident Perez will be apprehended and will have no further comment until he is in custody.
