Yavapai County Sheriff's Detention Officers involved in fatal crash

On Saturday August 7, 2010 at approximately 6:15 a.m. on State Route 169 near the town of Dewey, Arizona, three Yavapai County Sheriff’s Detention Officers were traveling in a late model Pontiac Grand Prix owned by the driver which was eastbound. The Officers were on their way to the Yavapai County Jail in
DPS Investigators believe there was heavy rain falling at the time of collision. Two of the Yavapai County Detention Officers were deceased on-scene, a third was transported to the
