Arizona Department of Public Safety investigating fatal collision on U.S. 93 and vehicle versus pedestrian collision on S.R. 74

On Saturday February 27, 2010 at 1:28 a.m. a pedestrian on State Route 74 was struck by a passenger vehicle which was travelling west. The pedestrian (runner in a relay race) was in the westbound shoulder of the roadway when he was struck. The pedestrian, 18 year old Robert Mayasich of Phoenix, was airlifted to St. Joseph’s hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Silver Toyota Solara Coupe involved in the collision, immediately stopped and remained on scene and cooperated with DPS investigators. This remains an open investigation. No arrests have been made nor charges at this time.

On Saturday February 27, 2010 at 3:03 a.m. a Semi-Tractor Trailer Truck carrying a load of Auto Parts was Northbound on U.S. 93 approximately 38 miles north of Wickenburg. The driver of a southbound minivan for an unknown reason crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Semi. A fire ensued completely engulfing both vehicles. The driver of the Semi, Ronald Lewis of Kingman was taken to John C. Lincoln Hospital North Mountain with non-life threatening injuries. At this time, the driver of the minivan has not been identified.
