DPS seizes more than 2,000 pounds of marijuana from commercial vehicle following traffic stop

On Friday, February 19, 2010, at 4:00 a.m., DPS Officers assigned to the agency’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau conducted a traffic stop on a tractor-trailer for an equipment violation. The traffic stop occurred on Interstate 40, near milepost 208 (just outside of Flagstaff).

A canine alerted to the trailer. A subsequent search of the trailer revealed 2,140 pounds of marijuana with a street value of approximately $1 million. The marijuana and tractor-trailer were seized. The driver and passenger were arrested and booked into the Coconino County Jail for possession of marijuana for sale, and transportation of marijuana for sale.
