Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers arrest driver involved in a fatal collision in October 2009.

On October 14, 2009, at about 8:04pm a collision involving a fatality occurred on State Route 286, milepost 36. The vehicle was a 1999 Dodge Intrepid, driven by Michelle Yolanda Juan, 28, from Sells, Ariz. Ms. Juan lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the road, overturning. The passenger in the vehicle, Lauren Cachora, 23, from Tucson, Ariz. was found deceased at the scene. DPS officers at the scene observed that Michelle Juan displayed signs and symptoms of impairment. She was transported from the scene to a local area hospital for treatment of injuries.

Based on the investigation of the collision, on February 4, 2010, DPS officers arrested Michelle Juan and booked her into the Pima County Jail on the following charges:

1. ARS 13-1105.A2 First degree murder

2. ARS 28-1383.A1 Aggravated DUI

3. ARS 13-1602.A1 Felony criminal damage

Michelle Juan is being held in jail on a $1,000,000 bond
